What We Stand For
Our Issues
The Adivasi communities of Assam face systemic challenges that demand urgent political and social action.
Scheduled Tribe Status
Adivasis in Assam have long been denied Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, depriving them of constitutional protections, reservations, and recognition as indigenous peoples.
Adivasi Peace Accord
The government must implement provisions 2(i) and 2(ii) of the Adivasi Peace Accord, which directly call for the scheduling of Adivasis under the Indian Constitution.
Shrinking Population
Census data from 1971 to 2011 reveals a sharp decline in the recorded Adivasi population in Assam — a trend that threatens community identity and political representation.
“Adivasi Awaz is more than a website — it is a living voice for a community striving to preserve its identity as language and culture face the pressures of time. We carry forward the knowledge of our ancestors.”
